Pichet Klunchun and Myself sees Thai Khon star Pichet Klunchun team up with Jérôme Bel, one of the most radical and important choreographers in Europe; the result is a distinctly original performance full of humour, sensitivity, and sincerity. The pair first met in 2004, and without knowing anything about each other, began a dialogue about dance and performance, religion and death, alongside controversial subjects such as Eurocentrism and cultural globalisation. The piece is a ‘lecture démonstration’, cleverly and entertainingly presented in a way that combines Eastern and Western ways of thinking. In 2008, Pichet Klunchun and Myself received the Routes Princess Margriet Prize for Culture from the European Cultural Foundation.
